Cult Gaia’s repertoire boasts an array of pieces, each bearing a distinctive twist. From knee-high snakeskin boots sporting a daring 45-degree heel to blue sequin gowns infused with feather accents, or bikinis crafted from raffia, every creation is a testament to designer Jasmin Larian Hekmat’s penchant for the unconventional. Despite the avant-garde flair, functionality and robust construction remain paramount. “I delved deep into craftsmanship, almost to the point of obsession,” she confessed of the spring 2024 collection. “While I’ve been highly conceptual in the past, I now strive for wearability without compromising creativity.”
Hekmat’s emphasis on textures—silk, raffia, and plissé—paired with meticulous handcrafted elements like patchwork and frayed hems, underscores her commitment to quality. Yet, the outcome remains delightfully abstract, evident in the geometric, blocky heels and the structured pleats of emerald green architectural dresses that she dubbed as couture. Spring 2024 exudes a spiritual kinship with resort 2024, offering a medley of eccentric beachwear. Continuity is apparent in certain silhouettes, such as the silky matching set featuring a bandeau reminiscent of elongated feathers or leaves, and the dresses adorned with raffia disks.
True to its essence, Cult Gaia exudes a summery vibe, evident in its sandals, partywear, and signature cut-outs, ensuring a seamless transition from beachside chic to urban allure.
