While crafting her spring collection, Mira Mikati found herself immersed in her usual routine of scrolling through vacation photos. Being one of fashion’s most avid globetrotters, her collection of travel pictures was extensive. However, a distinct theme emerged – stripes appeared throughout her trips to Capri, Santa Margherita, Santa Fe, and Palm Springs, where this look book was captured at the charming Les Cactus motel, owned by Matthew and Solène Kurtz.

This season, Mikati presents stripes in the form of lightweight summer knits in hues of blue, yellow, and white, adorned with crocheted flowers. To complete the look, she adds embroidered straw baskets and crocheted hats. The collection epitomizes the concept of “easy travel and easy care” – it effortlessly transitions from beachwear to evening attire, making it a versatile choice for all-day wear. Mikati, who tested a few prototypes in Greece, noted their resilience in windy conditions, making them ideal for seasons like this warm Paris Fashion Week, which saw temperatures around 80 degrees.

In other parts of the collection, a flower bustier emerged as a perfect choice for music festivals. Paired with a cardigan, silk pajamas took the concept in a different direction. Multicolored tassels from a bread pouch discovered in San Cristobal de las Casas added a unique twist to the stripes. Cotton canvas pants were tailored inside out and featured extra-long lengths that pooled around the ankles. Cargo pants could be styled with a loose shirt adorned with love, cactus, and mushroom patches, or a cheesecloth shirt embellished with flowers. The collection also included charming pieces like an orange striped marinière embroidered with a Paris Metro sign and a macaron, a pink suit with porcelain daisy-shaped buttons, and a cardigan with mismatched bands of color. At a time when minimalism dominates, these colorful stripes inject a sense of holiday joy.
